The small rural hamlet of Le Guer is well placed being 3km from the small village of St Gerand with bakery, and other small shops. 10km from the large medieval town of Pontivy with every facility Including weekly market, bars, restaurants, theatre, cinema, supermarkets, etc.

The Nantes/Brest canal is 3km away offering canoeing, fishing, walking and cycling. Many of central Brittanys medieval towns such as Josslin, Pontivy, Rohan, and far beyond can be reached using the walking, and cycle tracks that run along side the canal.

Some local attractions details:

Lac de Guerledan, a series of artificial lakes created by the Barrage of Guerledan. Has man made beaches with safe bathing areas for children, watersports, river cruises and picnic sites.

Pontivy is a market town with twisting old streets, a diverse range of shops, restaurants and cafes. The Chateau de Rohan stands at one end of the town complete with moat and towers. It is open to the public and hosts event and exhibitions. Pontivy has a tourist information centre and cycle hire. There is also an outdoor public swimming pool ideal for families with sun bathing areas, a paddling pool and play area for toddlers and large pool with diving boards. Pontivy also has a number of large supermarkets.

Nearby Loudeac has an indoor pool, pictured. Brittany’s south coast is an hour away and ideal for day trips.

Lorient is a large natural harbour and fishing port which hosts the ten day Inter Celtic music festival each year in August.

Carnac is probably the most important pre-historic site in Europe with 100s of standing stones and tumuli.

On the island of Belle-Ile you can hire bicycles to get around while the Golfe de Morbihan is scattered with small islands which you can visit by boat.

Beautiful Lake Guerledan is approximately 25 km away where you can take part in all watersports. It also has an artificial beach, with safe bathing area for children and adults. Cycle hire is also available.

The property is ideally placed for exploring Brittany. The excellent road network mean that both North and south coasts can be reached in about an hours drive, as can Rennes which is the capital of Brittany.
